With deep respect and heartfelt remembrance, we announce the passing of Armando H. Zurita, fondly known as Tata, who departed this life on June 24, 2026, in Ozona, Texas. Born on September 16, 1948, in Cd of Anahuac, Nuevo Leon, Armando’s journey spanned nearly eight decades marked by dedication, warmth, and unwavering commitment to his loved ones.
Armando’s life was anchored by his devotion to family, his industrious spirit, and a heritage that bridged generations. His story began in the vibrant environs of Anahuac, Nuevo Leon, and led him to Texas, where he became a beloved presence in the community.
His family was always at the center of his heart. Armando is survived by his cherished wife, Teresa, who stood by his side through every joy and challenge. He leaves behind his daughters, Delma Gandar (LeeRoy), Sandy Barela (James), and Rebecca Rodriguez (Tom), son Matias Gandar (Minnie), each of whom carries forward his legacy of strength and kindness. His love extended further to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish the wisdom and affection he bestowed upon them.
In addition to his immediate family, Armando is survived by his sisters, Bertha Lopez and Ricarda Montoya. Their lifelong bonds were a source of comfort and companionship, stretching from his childhood days in Cd of Anahuac through the shared memories of later years.
Armando was preceded in death by his father, Leopoldo Zurita; his mother, Anita Zurita; and his brother, Juan Zurita. The loving memories of those who went before him are part of a treasured foundation that continues to unite their family.
Those who knew Armando remember his steady guidance and the quiet dignity with which he faced life’s challenges. His presence enriched the lives of all who had the privilege to know him, and he leaves a legacy of resilience, love, and faith that will endure for generations.
A viewing will be held in honor of Armando on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Harper-Welch Funeral Home - Sonora, located at 409 SE 2nd St, Sonora, TX 76950. The Funeral Service will follow on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St Ann’s Catholic Church, 311 W Plum St, Sonora, TX 76950.
Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Armando H. Zurita are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life defined by compassion, dedication, and love.
