Bertha "Betty" Romero

August 26, 1949 — January 15, 2026

Eldorado, TX

Bertha “Betty” Romero of Eldorado, Texas passed away peacefully on January 15th, 2026 in her home, surrounded by the love of her family. Funeral services will be held on January 31st, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Agape Assembly of God.

Betty was born on August 26th, 1949 in Rocksprings, Texas to Miguel and Juanita Arispe. In 1965, she married the love of her life, the late Ray Romero, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, and love.

She is survived by her children: son Mickey Romero and wife Rosemarie; son Jody Romero and wife Christine; daughter Lesa Castro and husband DuWayne; and extended son Jason Stensby.

Known as “Momo,” she played a loving role in raising many of her grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She will be deeply missed and cherished by Mi-Ki Jasmine, Holly, Ray, Brittani, Samantha, Amanda, J.R., Jadyn, Ali, Dakota, Okshana, and Annika.

The light of Momo’s life was her great-grandchildren, whom she watched over until the very end. She is survived by her great-grandchildren: Andi, Collin, Tyler, Ray, Aliana, Khloe, Madilyn, Leo, Emma, Mick, Abel, Abram, Austen, Harlow, Rio, Mila, Barrett, Kash, Charlie and Rylan.

Momo was known and loved by many. She had a passion for cooking and a gift for making sure everyone was cared for and well-fed. She never met a stranger, and everyone who walked into her home had a seat at the dining table and great stories were always served alongside the meal. This past Christmas, she received a beanie from her granddaughter Mi-Ki that read “Tamale Queen” in red letters, a title many would agree she wore perfectly.

Fiery, witty, and stubborn until the very end, Momo was also deeply passionate, loving, and endlessly devoted to her family. Her legacy of love, strength, and generosity will live on through all those she loved and who loved her in return.

She is also survived by her siblings: brother George Arispe and wife Annie; sister Mary Grimaldo and husband Fermin; sister Anna Pina and husband Felipe; and sister Rosa Pina and husband Billy.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ray Romero; her parents, Miguel and Juanita Arispe; her sister Dora Arispe; her brother-in-law Hector Romero; and her grandson David Romero.

Honorary pallbearers are her grandsons, and great-grandsons.
