Fernando Adame Mejia

July 10, 1944 — February 2, 2026

Eldorado, TX

Having completed his earthly journey and answered the Lord’s call home, Fernando Adame Mejia, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 2, 2026. Fernando was surrounded by the prayers and love of his family. He was 81 years old. 

Born to Pedro and Dolores Mejia on July 10, 1944, in Eldorado, TX., Fernando lived a life grounded in faith, service and devotion.

On November 29th, 1969, Fernando was united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony to his forever one true love, Elena Garza Mejia. It was with Elena that he shared 56 years and 2 months of an amazingly blessed marriage. Together they built a home rooted in faith, perseverance, and most of all, unconditional love, bearing witness to the sacred covenant of marriage through every season of life.

Though his heart carried the sorrow of loss, he remained steadfast in hope in Christ’s promise of eternal life.

Fernando was preceded in death by his first and only son John Paul “Lou”, Mejia who passed on June 19, 2023. Together they will now cheer on the Dallas Cowboys to their next Superbowl victory.

Fernando was also preceded in death by his parents, Dolores & Pedro Mejia.

Fernando will belovingly remembered as a man of quiet strength, faithful prayer, and generous spirit, as well as his love for family and friends. He found purpose in serving his family, His church and his country.

He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and continued his military vocation with honor until his retirement. His years of service to his country reflected his deep sense of duty, courage, and commitment to protecting others.

His legacy lives on through the lives he touched with kindness, wisdom, and steadfast love. Treasuring his memories is his devoted wife, Elena Garza Mejia. Fernando will also be deeply missed by his brothers, Francisco Daniel Mejia from Eldorado, TX, and Steve Mejia from Denver, Co. His sisters, Connie Mejia, Maria Elena Mejia, Felis Ibarra & husband Fernando, May Terrazas & husband Harry & Lydia Mejia, all from Greely, Co., Also his favorite cousin, Maria Ramirez.

His brother and sister in laws, Eliseo Cardona and wife Anna, Enedina Zermeno and husband Alonzo, Esther Torres, Paul Kilgore, Salvador Garza and wife Yolanda. A multitude of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as many other family members, friends, fellow veterans, and members of the faith community who will continue to keep his memory alive through prayer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 824 N. Divide, in Eldorado, TX.

A Rosary/Vigil service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Harper-Welch Funeral Home, 210 West Gillis Ave., Eldorado, TX

Interment with military honors will follow at Eldorado Cemetary.
