Jessie Ruby Jenkins, 85, of Eldorado, Texas passed from this life April 10, 2026. She was born on October 16, 1940, in Damon, Texas to Jessie Raymond (Pop) and Bertha Mae Trentham. She was the youngest of four children. She was always quick to speak her mind and never met a stranger. When her great-nephew, David needed a place to call home, she opened her door to him and kept him on the straight and narrow. Full of energy and love for her family, friends and Christian family, she was always up for a game of dominoes, cards or dice or in the middle of whatever was going on.
She was so proud of her 2 children; 5 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and couldn’t wait to announce when a new great-great grandbaby was born! 16 and counting! Her love was felt by her entire family, including her numerous nieces and nephews, and their families. Everyone has so many fond memories and she will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
The Trentham family moved to Eldorado, Tx when she was 9 years old. Years later she met her future husband, Claude, in 1955 and they were married on December 25 of that year.
Jessie worked in salt packing and then was a school cafeteria supervisor while residing in Fort Stockton, Texas. After moving back to Eldorado in the 1970s, she worked in the Meat Market at Hext Foods following in her father’s footsteps. She was a Test Car driver for 16 years before retiring. Afterwards, she was always the “designated” driver for her traveling companion and sister, and they went to North Dakota, Nebraska, Oregon and made many other journeys to see relatives. Once even making an unplanned trip to Sturgis during the bike rally! These 2 were always together and you seldom saw one without the other. Later, her dear niece, Lori Heffernan, who tried her best to keep them both out of trouble, took over driving duty for trips, excursions, and various appointments. Jessie was always grateful and loved having her live so close by.
Jessie was a longtime member of the Eldorado Church of Christ and loved worshipping our Lord & Saviour. She loved her family and spent weeks visiting her daughter’s family in Amarillo and Borger. A quick rest at home, then off again to visit her son’s family in San Angelo and Robert Lee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Raymond Jenkins; father, Jessie Raymond Trentham; mother, Bertha Mae Trentham; brother, Raymond Trentham; sister, Rose Mary Uherek; son-in-law, Brian Lane Holsey, Sr.; great-grandson, Steven Lake Tucker; and great-great granddaughter, Rebekeh Mae Smith.
Jessie is survived by daughter, Linda Merle Jenkins Holsey; son, Danny Wayne Jenkins; Sister and Best Friend, Jo Ann Heffernan.
