Rafael S Gonzalez passed away on October 8, 2026, just days before his 97th birthday. Born on October 12, 1929, Rafael lived a long life centered on faith, family, and the simple joys that brought people together.
Rafael served as a Marine, and he also worked as a carpenter. His greatest pride was his family. Those who knew him will remember his love of God, his love of dancing, and the enjoyment he found in a good game of poker. These were the qualities and pleasures that helped shape a life that was both steady and warmly lived.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josie; his father, Primotivo; his mother, Delores; and his brother, Lalo.
Rafael leaves behind a family who will carry his memory forward with love. He is survived by Sally Gonzales, Lesa Gamez and Zeke, Ralph Gonzales and Dora, and Christine Martinez and Ronald. He is also survived by Leslie Monahan, Elvalisa Martinez, Michael Martinez, and Velma Gonzales, along with Madison Monahan, Dylan Monahan, Mark Gonzales, and Fabian Guzman. The family he cherished so deeply remains a lasting part of his legacy, and in them the love he gave will continue to be felt for years to come.
Rafael’s life was a testament to devotion—to God, to his country, to his work, and above all to his family. He will be remembered with affection, gratitude, and enduring love.
