Ramon C. Capuchina passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, in San Angelo, Texas.
Born on September 13, 1931 to Inez and Manuela Capuchina in Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico, Ramon’s roots were grounded in a rich agricultural heritage that shaped his character throughout his life. Ramon was instilled with the values of diligence, resilience, and family loyalty which shaped his path from Mexico to the United States, where he proudly became a US citizen.
For four decades, Ramon devoted himself to his profession as a truck driver, contributing significantly to construction projects in Sonora, Texas. His work ethic was unwavering; he often worked weekends to ensure a better future for his loved ones.
Ramon shared over 43 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Martina Capuchina, who preceded him in death. Together, they nurtured a close-knit family anchored in traditional values. Ramon’s legacy is carried on by his sons, Alberico Capuchina and his wife Rita, and Amaniel Capuchina and his wife Adela. His joy extended to his grandchildren—Adan Capuchina, Trey Samaniego, Alaysia Capuchina (Nalani), Cristian Capuchina, and Santana Capuchina—as well as to his great-grandchildren Keegan Samaniego, Kaydence Samaniego, Amaya Capuchina, and Payton Samaniego. He also leaves behind his siblings José Capuchina with his wife Violetta, and Lola Manzano.
Ramon’s siblings who were called home before him include Santana Capuchina, Matias Capuchina, Jesus Capuchina, Ricardo Capuchina, Alfredo Capuchina, as well as his sisters Maria Villarreal, Petra Fuentes and Chelo Fuentes.
Ramon found joy in the outdoors and took pride in enhancing his home, often surprising family and friends alike with his infectious gritos while listening to rancheras and corridos. His love of boxing and admiration for Canelo created bonding memories as he loved to airbox during the matches with his sons and grandsons. Above all, he treasured his role as a grandfather; those moments of playful connection with his grandchildren were when he was happiest. The family would like to thank Victoria Perez (VICKYYYY!!) and Gentiva hospice for their unconditional love and support during the last year, which allowed this final transition for Ramon to be filled with pleasant memories and comfort. We could not have done this without you all.
Services to honor Ramon’s life will begin with a viewing on May 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., with Rosary beginning at 5:30 p.m., at Harper-Welch Funeral Home in Sonora, Texas, located at 409 SE 2nd Street.
