Celebrating the Life of Thomas (Tommy) Lynn Hunley
Thomas “Tommy” Lynn Hunley, 77, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on February 7, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, and friendships that stretched far and wide.
Tommy was truly one of a kind. Known for his kindness, humor, and fun-loving spirit, he never met a stranger, only friends he hadn’t talked to yet. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, and chances were good he already knew them. Wherever Tommy went, there was laughter, good company, and usually a good story.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Tommy’s greatest joy was his family. He was proud of each generation that followed him and loved nothing more than being surrounded by those he loved. Whether cheering from the sidelines, sharing stories, or simply being present, he showed up fully and wholeheartedly.
Tommy worked for Eldorado Wool Company for many years and proudly served in the Army National Guard Reserves. Outside of work, he found joy on the golf course, in the hunting "fields", and through his involvement with the Schleicher County Rodeo Association and Masonic Lodge #890 of Eldorado - places where his love of community and tradition truly shined.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice Modene Hunley and H.L. “Tennessee” Hunley; his brother, Jerry Hunley; and his beloved grandsons, Koby Hunter and Kyler White.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Melinda Hunley; his sister, Carolyn Kiesz; his brother, Sammy Hunley; his stepmother, Mary Parrish and step-siblings, Diane Fowler, Denise Ellis, and Kevin Harbin. He also leaves behind his children: Carrie Brown (Todd), Chris Phillips (Madolyn), Austin Hunter (Kristen), Tara Myers (Brandon), Leslie Pickett (Charlie), Kyle Hunter (Cryss), and Rachel Reiss (John). His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Colton White, Cody White, Kaylee (Hunter) James, Jessica Harrington, Bayleigh Myers, Kade Hunter, Kyra (Hunter) Green, Kynlea Myers, Laynee (Pickett) Lemons, Slade Phillips, Jace Pickett, Ryder Phillips, Olivia Reiss, Wyatt Hunter, Reagan Reiss, Garrett Reiss, and Austyn Hunter; and his great-grandchildren, Everett Hunter and Callan James.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 in Eldorado, with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Harper Welch Funeral Home and graveside services at 2:00 p.m. at Eldorado Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Harper Welch Funeral Home.
Tommy’s life was full, joyful, and deeply connected - to his family, his friends, and his community. He will be missed more than words can say, but remembered every time stories are told, laughter rings out, and people gather together.
