William Floyd West, Jr.

William Floyd West, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on May 9, 2026.

Floyd was born in San Angelo on June 7, 1950 to Mora Lee (Meckel) and William Floyd “Jimmie” West. He was raised in and spent most of his life in Eldorado. After graduating high school, he attended Sul Ross University to study agriculture business. He enrolled into the aviation program at Southwest Texas Uvalde. Floyd was a skilled pilot and served as Governor Dolph Briscoe’s private pilot working for the State of Texas.

Floyd was an entrepreneur through and through and owned his own welding and bull dozer company for many years. He had many talents, a brilliant mind, and could fix just about any machine, big or small. He was always happy to help others in need when he was able. He was a true lover of all things outdoors, whether hunting or fishing or spending time at the lake or at the ranch he was happiest when outdoors.

Floyd is survived by his daughter Shannon West Biondo and her husband Teak and one granddaughter, Morlee Biondo of Carrollton, TX. Sister, Barbara West Clark of Waring, TX and a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Floyd is preceded in death by his parents and brother Charles Franklin West.

A very special thank you to the entire staff of St. Gabriel’s Hospice of San Angelo for their exceptional care and support in helping us keep Floyd comfortable at home just as he wished.

To Rosa, Glaicy, Myra and Maria, thank you for everything you have done for us. Your care and devotion to our family will never be forgotten. 

Visitation will be from 10 AM - 7 PM at Harper-Welch Funeral home in Eldorado, TX on May 11th, 2026. Funeral service will be on May 12th at 10 AM at the Eldorado cemetery chapel with graveside to follow.
